This is extremely cool: The Exonian, the oldest prep school newspaper in the country (I used to work here!), will host Bob Woodward this coming Thursday, Oct. 29 at Phillips Exeter Academy. I long for the old days of journalism, when the news wasn’t entertainment, it was information. Journalists had a job to do— and that was to hunt down as much information as humanly possible, at almost any cost, and deliver it straight to the people. Getting the story first, and getting the story right was what mattered most. And now? The priority lies in getting the gossip early and making the gossip entertaining.
I wonder if I would be able to get out of work early to go see Bob Woodward speak. He is one of the risk-taking greats, and I have a feeling this would be an incredibly inspiring speech for anyone (especially a former journalism major) to hear. Plus, I’d get to hang out back at Exeter for a few hours! Either way, it’s going to be incredible and I hope that every Exonian takes advantage of this unbelievable opportunity.
(Thanks, Serena May, for bringing this to the attention of the twitter world and myself!)
