It’s nearly impossible to make vocabulary fun.
When I’m in a jam, I sometimes try to think back to how my teachers at The Pike School taught various lessons—after all, I enjoyed classes and excelled in it at that age; they must have been doing something right… But I remember being slightly bored whenever we were starting a new vocab chapter. I would sit, reading ahead as the rest of the class...

Today we had parent/teacher conferences...
… which made me feel so official! Although, I don’t think I’ve been so nervous in a while. It’s one thing to teach kids— you know they’re judging you and you expect them to, because it’s only fair, seeing as it’s also your job to evaluate them. You also know that kids give second chances; make a mistake one day, and they’ll hate you for a few...
